Café Bahasa

Venue for Language Enthusiasts

Who we are

Hallo, language enthusiasts!

First of all, we would like to say thank you very much for visiting our website.

We believe that language can unite people and we are so happy that Café Bahasa can be a good community for us.

Cafe Bahasa was founded on a warm afternoon in April 2020. In two continents, two countries, Indonesia and Germany. We just thought that learning a new language should not be a burden to us, but a think we can always look forward to.

Would you like to get to know us further?

Yolenta

Ever since I was a kid, I have always been interested in languages. After finishing high school, I decided to go abroad and study in Germany. I finished my study Foreign Trade/ International Management in 2018 at HAW Hamburg. During those times, I experienced nine years of getting used to Germany and integrating into the culture, language and people.

For me, learning a language is colorful and I am a huge fan of grammar. Yes, that is why I‘m interested in inviting you to see grammar through my eyes.

I want to share my passion with you and I believe that there is always a simpler and more fun way to understand a language. If you have any question, let me know here in the comment. Otherwise, I’ll see you on some of our classes!

Dennis

Moin, nice to meet you everyone! 👋

My name is Dennis and I come from the beautiful city of Hamburg. The interest for different cultures and languages has already been with me my whole life.

I grew up in a German-Filipino household which taught me from an early age to become an appreciative and open-minded person whenever I meet people from all over the world.

Through fascinating journey experiences to various european countries, the USA and Southeast Asia, I realized more and more how important the use of foreign languages are, especially in the age of globalization. I’m of the opinion, that the more languages a person speaks, the further he can broaden his personal world view which contributes silmuntaneosly to positive impact on peace and mutual cultural understanding in the global context.

In addition, if you immerse yourself into a new culture, like I did with with Indonesia, you’ll certainly make new friends which will not only sharpen your character but also let them feel respected and understood.

At the moment, I’m about to finish my study in Languages and Cultures of Southeast Asia and Spanish at Hamburg University. I really enjoy to play with language, for example I sometimes communicate typical german idioms into Bahasa Indonesia or Spanish which leaves my counterpart often puzzled and amazed at the same.

That is all! We would like to make this the best possible platform, so if you have any question, feel free to send us a message to:
